DEWALT DCD709B 20V MAX ATOMIC Brushless Compact 1/2" Hammer Drill/Driver — 6.9" Long, 340 UWO, 28,050 BPM (Tool Only)
Masonry capability in a drill short enough to work inside a stud bay. At 6.9 inches front to back and 2.5 lbs, the DCD709 fits where a full-size hammer drill has to be angled in — and it still sets anchors in brick, block, and mortar.
The brushless motor delivers 340 UWO through a two-speed transmission: 0–450 RPM for controlled driving, 0–1650 RPM for drilling, and 28,050 BPM in hammer mode. Fifteen clutch settings give you repeatable torque so cabinet screws seat consistently instead of stripping. The 1/2" ratcheting chuck grips smooth shanks securely when a bit binds.
An LED at the foot lights the work surface rather than shining up into your eyes, which is what you want in a mechanical room or panel box. The handle is balanced for one-handed overhead work, and the belt hook is removable.
Set expectations on the hammer function. This is a compact hammer drill, not a rotary hammer. It handles 3/16" to 1/4" holes in brick and mortar cleanly — tapcon pilots, conduit clip anchors, light fixture mounts. It'll manage small anchors in cured concrete with patience. If you're routinely drilling 3/8" or larger in slab, an SDS-Plus rotary hammer is the right tool and will be faster and easier on your wrists.
Note: Bare tool. Battery and charger sold separately.
