DeWalt's most powerful 20V MAX hammer drill, and the one built for holes that used to mean going corded.
The numbers are the story: 2,000 RPM, 38,250 BPM, and 1,530 max watts out — the strongest drill DeWalt has built on this platform. Three speeds rather than two means you're not forced to drop into low gear to find torque; the tool holds high speed through work that stalls two-speed drills.
The ANTI-ROTATION System is the feature that matters most at this power level. A drill making this much torque will absolutely take your wrist with it when a self-feed bit binds in a joist. The system senses excessive rotational motion and shuts the tool down before it can, with a red LED that lights when it engages. On a ladder or overhead, that's not a convenience feature.
The all-metal transmission is what survives the loads this motor generates — plastic gearcases don't last on a tool making 2,100 in-lbs. The 1/2" ratcheting chuck is nitro-carburized metal with carbide inserts, which grips smooth shanks hard enough that a bound hole saw doesn't slip instead of stopping.
Despite all of it, this is DeWalt's shortest premium 3-speed drill at 7.6", so it still gets into stud bays and mechanical rooms. The pivoting 3-position LED has a 20-minute spotlight mode — aim it into a crawlspace, set it, and work with both hands.
Tool Connect Chip Ready for crews running tool inventory (chip sold separately).
