The XR kit for people who drill and drive all day. Up to 2000 RPM in high gear for boring through wood and metal, 0–650 RPM in low for heavy fastening, and a high-output brushless motor built for sustained load rather than occasional use.
At 6.37" of head length — half an inch shorter than the DCD791 it replaces — it still works between studs and inside cabinet boxes, but this is a tool built for output first and access second. The 1/2" metal ratcheting chuck is the giveaway: it grips harder and takes abuse that cracks a polymer chuck when a hole saw binds in a stud.
The LED is a real upgrade rather than a token light. Three positions, three modes, up to 70 lumens, and a spotlight mode with a 20-minute shutoff — aim it into a crawlspace or panel box, set it, and work with both hands.
Two 2.0Ah batteries keep one charging while the other works, and the DCB112 charger handles both 12V and 20V MAX packs. For crews running tool inventory, the chip pocket accepts a Tool Connect DCE042 chip for tracking through the Tool Connect Site Manager app (chip sold separately).
